The New Myspace Profiles |
|
The New Myspace profiles are here for good. You're in a state of shock because Myspace has ripped you're brand new Myspace layout from underneath your feet and not even said sorry; I'm in a state of shock as I've just lost half my portfolio. Ah well, times are changing and it's all for the better. The old Myspace used tables which for designers like me, meant removing the original Myspace page with code and then completely starting again with an overlay design. With the new Myspace version 3.0 profiles, I thought that was probably the end of custom Myspace coding, but actually after designing 7 or 8 of these pages, it really does give us quite a lot of freedom. It's really about utilising the Myspace backgrounds and header as much as possible rather than arranging the page to look as far from a Myspace profile as possible - like some designers used to! Although they don't currently allow custom module headers, we can make the most of the custom HTML modules and insert images to make it look like a custom header. Also, even though the stance is that there's no CSS, we can still quite happily use it on the fly, but just a limited version of it. For example, on the new Big Lo Myspace, I added all the social network links to the right of the page using fixed positioning. If you know HTML and CSS then it's just a matter of trial and error, if not, feel free to email me for a quote and maybe I can help out. |
